*My Aunt name was originally Aunt Aya (what all babies call me and I like it), somehow my niece turned that into "My Lyla" which turned into Lyla, so that's me Lyla!!! (and I love it)*
My beautiful new niece is here!!!!!!! My phone rang at 3:58 am, thankfully I have been sleeping with it since my sister-in-law went into early labor last Wednesday. So I was spared that horror of "what's wrong". Anyway, mom says, "you want to hear a baby cry"....well duh!!! So she lays the phone on the table next to Casey and I get to hear all the horrid counting "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10"...I'm holding my breath and my toes are curling.(sympathy labor?)
Well, little Ms. Elaina was not coming out as fast as her big sister. I'm hearing all of poor Casey's moans and groans. Meanwhile Johnny comes in to go work and gives me a strange look, but does not question why I'm on the phone at 4am...hopefully he woke up before he started driving to work :).
So after 26 minutes I can hear the commotion getting louder in the room, and the all mighty doctor comes in (side note, poor nurses do all the work through the whole labor and 99% of the delivery and then then the doctor comes in for 5 minutes, catches the baby, and leaves and gets all the credit and way more money that the nurse, all hail nurses!!!!!). Anyway, the doctor is in, it gets loud, everyone is yelling and cheering, and then there it is, a teeny tiny little mew, and then a very loud newborn cry!!!
Elaina Brooke had entered the world!!!! I'm crying, mom is crying, Casey is crying...and so is Elaina. She weighed in at 7 lbs 5 oz. almost a pound bigger than her big sister. I have a few pictures, but I'm waiting on the "after the bath" pictures. Technology is amazing. Mom emailed me pics, I uploaded them to facebook and tagged Casey in them. Her baby is on the internet less than 10 minutes after being born!
Oh, this was funny. I get on the phone with my brother and I said "whatcha doing?" he says "having a baby" I joked I was warm in my bed and then we hear Casey say "I need to push again" and Justin says (in typical Dixon fashion) "okay gotta go, love you" really quickly. I guess you had to be there. Also mom gave Casey the phone to say hi while she was in between contractions, poor thing. Also, this was the day I called (my second guess) this is Shane's due date, 8 years ago. Of course he didn't come out for another 7 days, but still.
So without further ado. Introducing Elaina Brooke Dixon!!!!!
