...I bought it....

My blog, my opinion:

See these things, 2nd grade, Kindergarten, and preschool for an entire year! I bought it.

All from my wallet, every single penny of it! (except for the help from my parents) So no, I don't think it's fair to pay even more taxes into the school system. My blog, my opinion! $51,000,000 they have 51 MILLION dollars to educate the kids for a year. Figure it out and leave my tax dollars alone! And to those who think it's a luxury to homeschool. It's NOT! We sacrifice on a daily basis. We go without certain things so I can stay home. I don't have a cell phone, we just have basic cable, we don't go on long summer vacations (we have to save just to go every two years!), I buy clothes at thrift stores and yard sales, but to me it's worth it! I am with my kids EVERY day teaching them.  I don't think I should have to sacrifice any further to bail out the system. Yeah, they aren't asking that much. From what I've heard $100 per home owner to make up the 6 million dollar cut. However, that $100 tax hike could pay for my whole math curriculum. But instead I'd have to use take that money from MY kids education to give it to the system. Just doesn't seem fair.
And now just because the song is in my head.

Standing outside with our mouths open wide!!!

Ahh Ahh Ahh Ahh Ahh Ahh Ahh...if all the snowflakes were lemon drop and milk shakes oh what a snow that would be. Because lemon drops and milk shakes would sure as heck beat the pants off of MORE snow. After bragging about the crocus and daffodils that have popped up, they are now covered by 3 inches of wet slushy snow :(. I'm not sure why the winter is trying to drive everyone crazy, but it's sure as heck winning the bet it made with spring. It's March for Pete's Sake!!!! Enough is enough, I say we all revolt and throw the windows open, turn off the heat, put away the winter coats/gloves/hats/scarves and tell winter exactly where it can go! I'm so looking forward to light hoodies and daffodil picking!

And now some beauties from last spring:

Oh please Spring, please come visit soon, we miss you oh so much!!!

Recovering Mama!

Uggg. After a very long week of being sick, I am finally on the mend. I NEVER go to the doctor for illness. I've been exactly 4 times in 6 years and TWO of those times have been in the last month. Annoying. It doesn't help that my doctor's office can never get me in for two or three days. I mean who wakes up and says...hmm, I think I'll be in terrible pain in the three days so I'd better make an appointment. Really! So I have to pay double the co-pay and go to Urgent Care and get in and out in 20 minutes. Twice in the last month, once for strep and now for this awful sinus crud. I get sinus infections all the time and they go away in a few days with liberal use of Advil Cold and Sinus, but not this time! Everytime I woke thinking, I think it's better, I would sneeze and my head gave me a tiny explosion. So off to Urgent Care we went. Three prescriptions later, I'm feeling slighty more human. Dr. Justis said it's been the worst sinus season that he's seen in years. Lucky me. So here's what mommy being sick looks like around here.

The directions on one of the prescriptions was so insane that I had to make a check list to make sure I took them at the right time and I quote "take 2 pills by mouth 3 times daily for 3 days, take 2 pills twice daily for three days, take 1 pill twice daily for 3 days, then take 1 pill once daily for the last three days" Yikes! And the meds say that it can leave user with a feeling of "euphoria", I'm eagerly awaiting that side effect :)
I must say my dear hubby really stepped up. He took off early on Friday to take care of me, but I wasn't quite so miserable yet, all weekend, he got up with the kids, and ran the outside so I could sleep and nap. He made dinner and took off on Monday and drove me to Urgent Care, got my meds, made dinner again, I got a three hour nap. Then the kicker was he folded and put away ALL the weekend laundry. On the downside, this is the result of ONE day of me not doing laundry around here.

There is already a load of towels in the washer at this point. Insane, laundry is the enemy! Well at least I didn't catch Desperate Housewives on Sunday as a result of the worst headache I've ever had, so I'll be watching and folding this afternoon. Now, off to teach my kids something, they got an impromptu school vacation.

Our "Little Man"

We have had our little baby man for 6 months (this Saturday!) It's amazing how fast kids grown even when they are not your own. I get really sad that I cannot post pictures of him, he's the most adorable smiley guy.

J hugging on Shane.

This was after a very drooly hug.
As I was typing this I just found out, that he will be leaving at the end of April. We start overnights next month and a week long visit in April, followed by a week back here and then that's it. He'll be with his grandparents for the last three weeks before the court hearing. :( I know this is the way it's supposed to be, but it sucks just the same.

Cherry Squares!

My little helper, Sam, and I made a delicious Cherry Square desert. I am NOT a baker. I love to cook, cooking is easy, a little of this and a little of that. Baking is too precise for my taste, but these guys just looked so good. I got the the recipe from this lady.  Sam was a delightful helper for once :) Here's our yummy finished project. They do have an icing to go on them, but this way you can see the yummy cherries! Sam was quite the guardian of the oven!

Shane's Baptism!

Today my 7.5 year old was baptized. What an amazing morning! And he just lost his tooth number 8! Growing up way to fast, at least he's keeping what is good! :)
